So when I was little, maybe about 1 or 2, I lived in Zambia. My father worked in hotels. Now being a songwriter, I thought I needed to dig through every possible story I could, to write about the stories of my childhood. Now I was too little to remember the time I stayed there but I still thought it was important to acknowledge the time I lived in Africa. I sat and tried to think of something that rhymed with Zambia. Days went by thinking “What rhymes with Zambia, what rhymes with Zambia?”. I couldn’t find anything that rhymed, so I called the song Botswana.
