The song jungle speaks of the fears we often run away from, the things that we don’t have the strength to deal with in the present. It’s funny because the main chorus of the song came from a simple feeling my friend had when he heard me play the song. He said he could see himself in a forest, running from something, and he turned to find that it was his own shadow. He said all of this rather clearly, whilst being inebriated.
The idea struck a literal chord with me, because I felt I was going through a stressful time, a time where I would just hide from, problems, and conflict, and would resort to, eating a lot, and going silent and hiding from the people I loved most. With the work I’d put in to my craft over the last few years, I really felt the pressure to put a lot of work in for the next thing I had to release, and the sheer weight of expectations got to me, big time. I guess I too was running from my own shadow.
lyrics
Stop, as we wait
For the motions to bear
Hold, all those things
You hold dearly
Colour, All your eyes
As you stop and stare
This handsome fog lies
Nowhere else
Time to run
Time to run from the
Rising sun
All these shadows
Behind me I thought
I had to run
Time to hide
All these valleys
to overcome
All these shadows
Behind me I thought
I had to run
Wait,
Don’t you know
Why I chase you through forests
Attached to your soles
Don’t be afraid
For the darkness you give
Becomes more than shade
I’m Listening, To the end of the day
My silence is golden
I’m humble I fear
As night becomes home
my soul disappears singing
Ooooh
Time to run
Time to run from the
Rising sun
All these shadows
Behind me I thought
I had to run
Time to hide
All these valleys
to overcome
All these shadows
Behind me I thought
I had to run
